SUMMARY:First Nations Principles of OCAP Workshop
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nNishnawbe Aski Nation is happy to offer First Nations Information Governance Centre’s FIRST NATIONS PRINCIPLES OF OCAP® WORKSHOP to leadership and education staff. \n\n\n\nThe First Nations principles of Ownership\, Control\, Access\, and Possession – more commonly known as OCAP® – assert that First Nations have control over data collection processes\, and that they own and control how this information can be used. The virtual workshop provides participants with an interactive opportunity to deeper explore the First Nations principles of OCAP®. Using historical and contemporary examples\, the workshop explores OCAP®\, data sovereignty\, and research and data management issues\, and offers participants the opportunity to consider how OCAP® can be respected within their current work. This workshop will be facilitated over the course of 2 days in two-hour sessions. \n\n\n\n\nRegister here\n\n\n\n\nContact Claudia at cstein@nan.ca for more information \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
