NAN Honours 2026 Keewaywin Awards Recipients
APITIPI ANICINAPEK NATION: Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Executive Council, Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and Deputy Grand Chiefs Anna Betty Achneepineskum, Bobby Narcisse, and Mike Metatawabin, congratulate recipients of the 2026 Keewaywin Awards for their outstanding leadership and contributions to our Nation.
“These awards are a celebration of the efforts and dedication of NAN citizens who continue to strengthen and uplift our Nations,” said Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler. “From our youth, women, and Elders from across our communities, each of them plays a vital role in shaping our future. Miigwetch to these well-deserving recipients, the work you do, and the impact you make, strengthens our communities and inspires us all.”
2026 Keewaywin Award recipients include:
- Emile Nakogee Award for Outstanding Leadership – Chief Jennifer Constant, Mattagami First Nation
- Helen Cromarty Memorial Award for Women – Bertha Cormier, Matachewan First Nation
- NAN Elder Award – Cheryl Macumber, Missanabie Cree First Nation
- Shannen Koostachin Youth Leadership Award – Memekwe Morriseau, North Caribou Lake First Nation
- Joe Wheesk Legacy Award – Ryan Desmoulin, Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg (Pic Mobert) First Nation
- Host Community Award – Apitipi Anicinapek Nation
Recipients were honoured during the 44th Annual Keewaywin Conference, held September 22-24, 2026, in Apitipi Anicinapek Nation.
